Therapeutic Approach
What can I expect from therapy that focuses on loneliness?
First and foremost, therapy clarifies your goals, needs, and expectations. Is your aim to become more social? To cultivate emotional closeness and heart-centered connections? To remove fear of intimacy – or to stay alone without feeling lonely? Therapy will be shaped by the goals you set. Regardless, we’ll explore the deeper emotional reasons behind your loneliness to gain clarity, helping you make conscious, empowered choices.
How do you explore loneliness – do you use any specific methods or frameworks?
My approach to loneliness is rooted in psychodynamic therapy, particularly within the Jungian psychoanalytic tradition. This framework explores how early experiences shape our inner emotional world. I also integrate existential philosophy, helping you discover personal meaning in what you’re experiencing. Together, these approaches support a depth-oriented process that invites self-understanding and transformation.
Is this therapy only for people who live alone, or for anyone who feels disconnected?
This work is for anyone who experiences disconnection – not just physical solitude. Many people feel lonely even in the company of others when they can’t fully show up as themselves. If you often self-censor or feel unable to express your spontaneous thoughts and feelings, you may struggle to form genuine connections. Therapy can help reconnect you to your inner truth and build more authentic relationships.
How do sessions typically unfold when the core issue is loneliness?
Sessions follow my intuitive and layered approach. After our initial greetings, I often pause to create space for you to share your experience in your own words. I may interject with clarifying questions or spontaneous insights. Once I grasp your story’s contours, we begin the deeper work – unpacking layers of emotion and meaning much like peeling an onion. Each layer brings us closer to understanding the core of your experience.
Can therapy help if I’ve felt lonely my whole life?
Yes. Even if loneliness has been a lifelong companion, therapy can offer fresh perspective and inner clarity. You may discover new dimensions of your experience, allowing you to reshape your relationship with loneliness and live with greater purpose – even if external circumstances remain the same.
How long does it usually take to feel a shift or sense of connection again?
Emotional healing isn’t linear. Unlike medical treatment, therapeutic change doesn’t follow predictable timelines or measurable benchmarks. That said, insight-oriented therapy often brings profound, meaningful changes – especially when you’re open to new understanding and committed to the process. It’s a journey of self-discovery, not a quick fix.
Do you combine psychological and spiritual approaches in this work?
Absolutely. For me, the psychological and the spiritual are inseparable in deep healing. While the Jungian framework is psychological in structure, its foundation is inherently spiritual – drawing from rich traditions across cultures. This blended approach allows us to explore both symbolic and emotional realms in a way that supports holistic transformation.
What if I don’t even know how to describe what I’m feeling – is that okay?
It’s more than okay. Many people struggle to name their emotions – and that’s often where the healing begins. If you’re unsure how to describe what you’re feeling, we can start with what isn’t working well in your life, and explore what you wish were different. From there, the language of your inner world will begin to emerge.
Practice Information & Logistics
How long are sessions, and how often do they take place?
Sessions are 50 minutes long. Clients can choose to meet weekly or biweekly, but not less frequently than every other week – consistency and continuity are essential for meaningful progress. During emotionally intense periods, twice-weekly sessions may be available, though not more often than that.
Do you accept insurance?
I do not accept insurance directly. However, I work through several telehealth platforms that may accept your insurance plan. If you’d like to explore that option, I can guide you toward those resources. I do not provide billing for insurance reimbursement. Upon request, I can offer basic documentation of your payments, though this will not conform to the standards required for claims reimbursement.
What is your cancellation policy?
I require at least 24 hours’ notice for canceling a session. Late cancellations or missed appointments will be charged at the full session fee. Further details are available in the informed consent form provided prior to starting therapy.
How is therapy terminated?
Termination is best approached through mutual agreement and an in-person conversation so that we can reflect on your journey and bring closure to the process. That said, you are free to end therapy at any time for any reason. I also reserve the right to terminate therapy under the conditions outlined in the informed consent form.
Who do you work with? Are there specific populations you focus on?
I welcome individuals of all backgrounds and identities. I am particularly well-suited to work with immigrants who feel culturally displaced and struggle to adjust to new environments. This kind of loneliness is familiar to me personally, and I understand its emotional weight. I also support individuals who feel politically disenfranchised or socially isolated – especially when their surroundings refuse to recognize them fully as human beings due to ideological differences. Therapy with me offers a space where emotional exile can be examined with honesty and care.
